Individual Counseling
Students may request to see a counselor by placing a note in our mailbox, notifying their teacher, or emailing the counselor. The counselor will then meet with the student to determine how their immediate needs and/or concerns can be alleviated or resolved. Individual counseling with a student is intended to be short term in nature (4-6 sessions) and is goal-oriented where the student develops the goal to be attained. If a student requires long term counseling then the parent/guardian can seek an outside organization/agency. If a Wake County Exchange of Information form is signed and completed by the parent/guardian, then the counselor will be able to speak to the outside therapist.
All counseling sessions and any counseling notes are confidential and never placed in the student's cumulative folder. |
